The Blues just signed fellow blueliner Jay Bouwmeester to a contract extension, and their plan is to do the same for Pietrangelo. It is getting late in the offseason, and the chance of a holdout has been rumored. It is probably safe to draft the standout defenseman, though, since the Blues have room under the salary cap to make this happen.
