Poulin came into his own during the 2018-19 QMJHL campaign following a difficult debut season with Sherbrooke that saw him suffer a concussion in his very first game.
In his second year, the Blainville, Quebec-born left winger tied for the team lead in goals and paced the club in points, producing 17 more than any teammate.
Poulin, the son of former NHLer Patrick Poulin, represented Canada at both the Under-18 World Championship and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2018.
He models his game after Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog, according to NHL.com.
What they're saying
"He's very competitive," NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr told LNH.com's Guillaume Lepage in January. "He's always in motion and heading for the net. He's able to get open and make the most of the opportunities when he gets around the net."
"Samuel Poulin is a junior player in an adult body," McKeen's Hockey's Benoit Belanger wrote in February. "He is physically strong, plays a mature game, and has good work ethic. He is a goal-scoring winger with an excellent shot. There are several aspects of Poulin’s game that stand out, namely his shot and ability to get open for clean looks at the net."
