The St. Louis Blues have signed 2017 first-round pick Klim Kostin to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The Blues selected the Russian forward with the 31st pick in this year's draft, originally acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Ryan Reaves.

Kostin spent last season with the KHL's Moscow Dynamo, appearing in eight games. He was held pointless but recorded 27 penalty minutes.

It has been a whirlwind week for Kostin, who was reportedly released from his KHL contract Tuesday as a result of Moscow Dynamo filing for bankruptcy.
