Power outages strike at inopportune time in Ottawa

Dan Hamilton / USA Today Sports

Apparently Mother Nature isn't a fan of Game 7s.

There were multiple reports of power outages in the city of Ottawa on Thursday evening, which obviously came at an unfortunate time, considering the Senators were set to play in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final at 8 p.m. ET.

Jon Willing, an reporter at the Ottawa Citizen, tweeted that power wasn't estimated to be restored until 1:30 a.m.

Those living in the affected area of the city were likely frantically calling up friends in other neighborhoods to see whose cable was still in working order. Otherwise, they'd have to head to the closest sports bar that still had power.

The media had been saying that all of the pressure was on the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7, but Hydro Ottawa was forced to deal with a pressure-packed situation of its own ahead of the Senators' biggest game in nearly a decade.
