Callan Foote was ranked 12th among all North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, coming in third among defenseman behind only Cale Makar and Juuso Valimaki.

Known primarily for solid play in his own zone, Foote also has a knack for moving the puck, as evidenced by his impressive assist total in 2016-17. According to Elite Prospects, Foote is indeed the complete package on the blue line, and projects to be a top-four defenseman at the NHL level:

An assertive two-way defenceman that reads plays quickly and understands both the offensive and defensive sides of the roles he is put into. He plays a consistent game, and can be trusted to create chances from the back end on special teams. He uses his size to gain leverage against other players, though he isn't an overly physical force. His hockey sense is outstanding, and his ability to not just read but start and, on the odd occasion, finish plays is overtly indicative of his high talent level.

Highlights from this past season can be seen here.

And yes, he's the son of former NHLer Adam Foote, hence the dual citizenship.
