Giroux takes blame for sputtering Flyers' offense

A 10-game winning streak is nothing but a distant memory for Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Since their impressive run, the Flyers have struggled to recapture any momentum, and their offense has run completely dry.

Over its past 10 games, Philadelphia has scored just 13 goals, and have consequently fallen out of a playoff position in the Eastern Conference.

The club is desperate for a shift in the right direction, and captain Giroux - who himself has two goals over his last 20 games - is taking the blame for the Flyers' recent futility.

"The bottom line is, the team's got to be better. I've got to be better," Giroux told Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "Personally I have to be better. I've got to play up to my standards and, right now, it's not the case. It's frustrating. You want to give everything you can to help the team, and that's not the case right now.

"I know I have to be better to help the team. I take responsibility."

Philadelphia needs to rectify its scoring issues soon, as the Flyers host first-place San Jose on Saturday before embarking on a three-game road trip through Western Canada.
