Sabres' Anders Nilsson: Squeaks past Rangers thanks to third-period comeback

Nilsson allowed three goals on 25 shots in Thursday's 4-3 victory over the Rangers.

Analysis:

He was down heading into the third after getting beat twice in the second period, but Nilsson's relatively low save total included a number of big-time stops. Those plays kept the Sabres in the game, leading to Jack Eichel's duo of third-period goals that turned the tables on Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers. Robin Lehner's hip injury is reportedly minor, so Nilsson's run as the interim starter may only last one game. Still, he just beat the league's best offense, which should make coach Dan Byslma feel good about turning to the 26-year-old when he needs to.
