Red Wings' Justin Abdelkader: Leaves game with injury

Abdelkader left Thursday's game against Florida with a lower-body injury and won't return, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis:

Abdelkader's not close to being the team's top scorer this season, having deposited only eight points in 22 games. However, the possibility of losing a top-six forward -- an alternate captain to boot -- for even a short time could wreak havoc on a team that's already been ripped by the injury bug and lacks continuity on both ends of the rink.
