Red Wings' Petr Mrazek: Rescued by team offense

Mrazek turned aside only 13 of 16 shots in an overtime win over the Devils on Friday. He was pressed into duty in the first period after Jimmy Howard was forced out with a groin injury.

Analysis:

Mrazek was bailed out by the offense, with most of his gratitude probably going out to defenseman Mike Green for notching the game-winner in overtime. Howard received his eighth start in the past nine games in this one, having been rewarded for his spectacular play in the early going of the campaign -- 1.76 GAA heading into Friday's tilt -- but Mrazek will be asked to shoulder a larger workload with Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reporting that Howard will be out for at least week.
