Sabres' Robin Lehner: First off the ice at practice, expected to start Tuesday

Lehner will be the likely starter Tuesday against St. Louis after leaving the ice first at the morning skate, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.

Analysis:

It's customary for the starting goalie to leave the ice first at practice during game days. Lehner allowed four goals on 27 shots Saturday against New Jersey, and he's given up nine goals in his past three starts. His season numbers look good so far with a 2.40 GAA and .923 save percentage, but he hasn't been very consistent; as a result, it's difficult to predict how he will fare on a nightly basis. The Sabres have struggled against the Blues in recent years and will be without Ryan O'Reilly (abdomen), which makes defending against Paul Stastny and Jori Lehtera particularly difficult, especially with the young Sam Reinhart centering the top line. Lehner is an inadvisable start against the Blues, and his next two matchups against Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh don't look great either.
