Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen may be hearing from the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Monday.
After a collision with Carolina Hurricanes forward Joakim Nordstrom in the third period Sunday, Virtanen took finishing his check too far, slamming Nordstrom's head into the boards as Nordstrom was sliding helplessly on the ice.
No penalty was called on the play. The 'Canes blew a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in overtime.
