Devils' Cory Schneider: Delivers sharp effort in OT loss to Panthers
Schneider stopped 32 of 34 shots in Thursday's opener against Florida, but was stuck with a 2-1 loss in overtime.
Analysis:
Schneider has been one of the NHL's best netminders for years, but is rarely mentioned in the same breath as the league's elite, largely because the Devils' offense has typically been atrocious at supporting him. The additions of Taylor Hall and rookie Pavel Zacha (who had an assist Thursday) were supposed to change that storyline, but the Devils managed just a single goal in the opener. Of course, it's just one game, and the New Jersey offense will certainly have better days.
