Ducks' Rickard Rakell: Still holding out on contract
Rakell (abdomen), a restricted free agent, remains unsigned by the Ducks, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis:
Rakell is arguably the biggest name still holding out on a new contract with the regular season just two days away for the Ducks. Having completed the maximum three years of an entry-level contract, Rakell is said to be looking for a long-term extension. The Swede certainly set the bar high with 43 points in the regular season of 2015-16, but he struggled in the playoffs to the tune of two points and a minus-4 rating through seven contests. On top of trying to get a new deal done, Rakell is recovering from an appendectomy, making fantasy owners play the waiting game as the 2016-17 season looms.
