The Montreal Canadiens have nabbed Roberto Luongo's former backup, signing Al Montoya to a one-year contract worth $950,000, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.
Montoya has spent the last two seasons with the Florida Panthers, starting a combined 35 games.
The 31-year-old posted a career-high 2.18 goals-against average, along with a .919 save percentage.
