The Nashville Predators removed a body from their crowded crop of blue-liners Thursday, buying out the final year of Barret Jackman's contract, according to multiple reports.

Jackman carries a cap hit of $2 million, and in buying him out, the Predators save $1.33 million, according to General Fanager.

The gritty 35-year-old appeared in 73 games last season, scoring five points in over 13 minutes of ice time per contest.
