Coyotes' Tobias Rieder: Set to become restricted free agent
Rieder (knee) was extended a qualifying offer by the Coyotes on Monday.
Analysis:
The 'Yotes also gave qualifying offers to forwards Tyler Gaudet and Stefan Fournier. Rieder sustained a knee injury at the World Championship in Russia in mid-May, though he's expected to be healthy by the start of the 2016-17 campaign. The 23-year-old finished with 37 points last season, which was a 16-point jump from his rookie year, but the German could afford to tighten up defensively -- In his young NHL career, he owns a minus-40 rating.
