Bruins' Torey Krug: Receives qualifying offer
The Bruins have extended a qualifying offer to Krug (shoulder), who is slated to become a restricted free agent, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis:
The move was fully expected, as retaining Krug figures to be an offseason priority for the Bruins, who can ill-afford to lose the young, mobile blueliner, especially after dealing Dougie Hamilton last year. Krug, who underwent right shoulder surgery on April 21, is coming off a 2015-16 campaign in which he recorded 44 points in 81 games. His recovery will need to be monitored in training camp, but when healthy, Krug is a key cog on the B's power play and thus maintains fantasy utility.
