Canucks' Radim Vrbata: Will not be re-signed by Vancouver

Vrbata (knee) will be let go by the Canucks according to general manager Jim Benning on Thursday.

Analysis:

Vrbata was sidelined for the end of the 2015-16 season, which could cause potential suitors to hesitate when considering whether to bring him into the fold. At 35 years old, the winger could be facing an uphill battle to earn playing time due to his age as well as defensive concerns. In 63 contests, Vrbata was an astonishing minus-30 despite tallying 27 points offensively. Even if the veteran does get picked up, it is doubtful he will secure a contract anything like his two-year, $10 million deal he signed with the Vancouver in 2014.
