Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: MRI clean, no surgery required
Malkin will not require surgery on his injured elbow and is not expected to miss any time in the 2016-17 season.
Analysis:
It was announced last week that Malkin was scheduled to undergo an MRI, but it now appears that those results have came back clean. Instead of surgery, Malkin will undergo a rehabilitation plan. This is excellent news for the defending Stanley Cup champions, as Malkin provided 58 points in 57 games for the Pens during the regular season, adding another 18 points (six goals) in the playoffs. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the injury was originally suffered on March 11, and forced Malkin to miss 17 total contests (including one playoff game).
