Hurricanes' Teuvo Teravainen: Traded to Carolina
Teravainen and Bryan Bickell were traded to Carolina by the Blackhawks on Wednesday in exchange for a 2016 second-round and 2017 third-round draft pick.
Analysis:
He's just 21 years old, but Teravainen is a Stanley Cup champion, having won it with the Blackhawks in 2015. He was largely confined to a bottom-six role with Chicago, but should have no problems sticking on a scoring line for the Hurricanes, a team that ranked 27th in the league by averaging 2.39 goals per game. Still on an entry-level contract, Teravainen is versatile and has supreme on-ice vision. He contributed 13 goals with 22 assists in his first full season in 2015-16. Yeah, Teravainen is likely to go through growing pains as a young player adjusting to a new team, but his long-term upside should not be overlooked.
