Oilers sign Lucic to 7-year contract worth reported $42M

The Edmonton Oilers have just snagged one of the biggest fish in free agency.

The club has officially signed rugged winger Milan Lucic to a seven-year contract.

The signing reunites Lucic with general manager Peter Chiarelli, under whom he played several seasons with the Boston Bruins.

The 28-year-old winger, who's coming off a three-year, $18-million deal, recorded 20 goals and 55 points with the Los Angeles Kings this past season after being traded by Boston last summer for Martin Jones, Colin Miller and the 13th-overall pick at the 2015 NHL Draft.

A second-round pick of the Bruins back in 2006, Lucic has averaged 20 goals and 50 points for every 82 games played since entering the NHL in 2007.

He brings an intimidating physical presence to that modest scoring touch, as well as the experience of winning a Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011 and making another appearance in the Final in 2013.
