The Cincinnati Bengals have selected guard Christian Westerman out of Arizona State in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 161st overall.
Cincinnati gets some strong value nearly half way through the third day, adding an athletic interior lineman to provide competition at one of the few thin areas on the roster.
A strong rookie training camp could see Westerman push for a starting role at left guard or center heading into the fall.
Christian Westerman Bio
Position: G
School: Arizona State

Strengths
- Athletic interior linemen who should thrive as part of a zone-blocking scheme.
- Best utilized working to the second level of the defense.
- Advanced technique will go a long way toward helping him to earn a starting role from day one.
Weaknesses
- A below average frame for the position is one factor working against him when it comes to making a transition to the NFL.
- Would likely need to add strength to match up with the linemen he'd come up against on the interior.
