49ers select Kelvin Taylor, son of ex-NFL tailback Fred Taylor, in 6th round

The San Francisco 49ers have selected running back Kelvin Taylor out of Florida in the sixth round (211th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Son of former Gator and NFL running back Fred Taylor, Kelvin enters the pro game only five seasons after his father's retirement.

Taylor is the second of three sixth-round selections by the 49ers. Only moments before his name was called, the 49ers selected Taylor's former college teammate Jeff Driskel.

• Excellent ball security. Had zero fumbles on 510 career touches at Florida.

Weaknesses

• Lacks ideal size and power for an NFL running back, and has some issues breaking tackles.
• Needs improvement as a pass-blocker.
• Wasn't highly productive in college and may not be a starter at the NFL level.
• Dealt with some hamstring and ankle issues at Florida.
