Texans agree to terms on 1-year with Jonathan Grimes
The Houston Texans agreed to terms on a one-year contract with running back Jonathan Grimes, his agent, Sunny Shah confirmed.
Financial terms of the deal were not released, but Grimes signed a contract worth $700,000, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. In addition, he'll receive a $200,000 bonus for remaining on the 90-man roster.
Grimes rushed for 282 yards and a touchdown on 56 carries, adding 26 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown in 14 games with the Texans last season.
The 26-year-old's versatility is an asset to a Texans' offense that is undergoing a massive renovation at their skill positions, after quarterback Brock Osweiler and running back Lamar Miller signed during free agency.
Grimes will almost certainly operate as Miller's backup entering the 2016 season, competing with Alfred Blue for snaps.
