Report: Kaepernick leery of pay cut to join Browns in potential trade

For any team that lands Colin Kaepernick in a trade this offseason, restructuring the lucrative contract he received in 2014 is a must.

Such a deal would also benefit Kaepernick in facilitating his departure from San Francisco, but potential negotiations for which may not be so simple for the Cleveland Browns.

After the organization lost a number of key players to free agency, further depleting an already thin roster, Kaepernick is hesitant to restructure his contract as part of any trade that would send him to Cleveland, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

The Browns recently emerged as a logical destination for Kaepernick given the team's dire need under center and the quarterback's reported desire to play for head coach Hue Jackson.

While it's possible that Cleveland eventually works out a trade and gives Kaepernick an acceptable contract, the disastrous beginning to the offseason certainly appears to be impacting the Browns in more ways than one.

Other teams currently thought to be in the mix for the young quarterback include the Denver Broncos and New York Jets. Kaepernick would presumably be more flexible with his contract demands in the event of a trade to either club, as each appears set to enter the 2016 campaign as a contender.
