Nate Robinson, an 11-year NBA veteran and three-time Slam Dunk contest champion, made headlines this past week when he said he'd now pursue a career in the NFL.
Though it remains to be seen whether any team would give such an opportunity to a 31-year-old who hasn't played football since his freshman year of college, Jermaine Kearse is lobbying for the Seattle Seahawks to step up.
"You know what? I want Seattle to give him a chance," Kearse told 710 ESPN Seattle. "So if he would come into the league, he would be considered what, a rookie, right? ... He'd be a rookie, so give him a shot at rookie minicamp."
Robinson started six games at cornerback in his first year at Washington before eventually turning his full attention to basketball.
Kearse, a fellow Washington alum, was impressed with what he saw in that limited action.
"I watched a couple games when he was at UW, and he was a baller. He was an athletic guy," he said.
Kearse was reportedly set on finding a new team upon hitting hit free agency this offseason, but it wasn't long before he and the Seahawks agreed to terms on a new three year-deal.
The 26-year-old finished the 2015 campaign with 49 receptions for 685 yards and five touchdowns, easily the most productive season of his NFL career to date.
