Grimes has agreed to a two-year deal worth $16.5 million with the Buccaneers, Rand Getlin of NFL Network reports.

Analysis:

Grimes has released by the Dolphins earlier in the week after spending three seasons with the team. Last season he played in 15 games, recording 49 tackles and four interceptions. The nine-year veteran played under current Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith from 2008-2012 during a portion of the latter's head coaching stint, tallying 13 interceptions and 56 passes defensed over that span. Before an inconsistent 2015 campaign in South Florida, Grimes had also posted nine interceptions and two touchdowns over his first two seasons with the Dolphins. The 32-year-old is expected to bring stability and play-making ability to a Bucs secondary that surrendered the fifth-most passing touchdowns in the league last season (31), and a league-worst 70 percent completion percentage to opposing quarterbacks.
