Brock Osweiler hopes his 2015 play is enough to earn him an extended stay in Denver.
After taking over for Peyton Manning in a Week 10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Osweiler led the Broncos on a 5-2 run that included victories against the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals. Now, with Manning possibly ready to call it a career, Osweiler could be asked to take on a full-time starting role.
"Every single guy on this team embraced me, and that is something I think they all know how thankful I am for that, but this is the best team in the world and we have a very special group in our locker room," Osweiler told Nicki Jhabvala
of the Denver Post.
Osweiler is part of a pending free-agent list that includes linebackers Von Miller and Danny Trevathan, defensive end Malik Jackson, and running back Ronnie Hillman. Keeping all of them could prove to be a tough task for the Broncos, though, in the case of Osweiler, his future likely hinges on whether Manning returns.
