Owen Daniels wants to be a weatherman after football
Denver Broncos tight end Owen Daniels is prepared for a life after football.
The atmospheric and oceanic science major is hoping to put his climatic knowledge to use when he hangs up his cleats in a few years by working as a weatherman.
"I do want to work in weather in some capacity when I'm done," Daniels said Monday. "I've been trying my best the last couple of years to get my foot in the door and get out there and do some forecasting for home games and stuff like that. It's been a lot of fun for me. I spent a ton of time on that in college so I kind of want to put that degree to work when I'm done."
When asked to display what he knew about recent weather patterns, Daniels didn't disappoint. El Nino and climate change are exciting developments in the weather world, making prognostication that much more erratic.
"It's been interesting. The whole El Nino thing coupled with climate change stuff, it's exciting time if you're in weather," he said. "Things are changing, they're less predictable then they might have been. Just crazy things going on."
When asked if he wants inclement weather to play a factor in Sunday's game, Daniels turned on the weather, saying he wants a perfect day with clear skies - just as is currently forecasted.
"Things change as you get closer to the day," Daniels said. "I'm glad we're having great weather - El Nino can take a backseat this weekend."
Daniels was not asked about his thoughts on the bleak 2005 Nicolas Cage movie "The Weather Man."
