Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters won Defensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors awards show on Saturday.

Peters finished his rookie campaign tied for the league lead in interceptions with eight, helping lead the Chiefs on a 10-game winning streak to finish the season.

The Washington standout captured 45 of a potential 50 votes, with Buffalo Bills cornerback Ronald Darby and New York Jets defensive end Leonard Williams also getting votes.

After a tumultuous junior season, Peters was dismissed from his college team for disciplinary reasons in November 2014. Despite his maturity issues the Chiefs sleceted him 18th overall in last April's draft.
