Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is optimistic about cornerback Patrick Peterson's status for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Peterson suffered a low-ankle sprain during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals after colliding with A.J. Green.

"Pat, I think's going to make it,” Arians said Tuesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio via ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "He felt better today."

Peterson returned to elite form this season, after a mediocre 2014 campaign where he surrendered eight touchdowns.

If Peterson cannot play Sunday, expect Justin Bethel to gain increased playing time.
