Ravens coach Harbaugh rules Smith out for Week 5 vs. Browns
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. will not play in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns, head coach John Harbaugh said on CSN Saturday.
"I think he's going to be okay in the long run, you know he's got some small micro-fractures in his back from what I've been told," said Harbaugh.
"They've ruled him out for the Cleveland game, but after that I think we've got some hope that he'll be back."
There were reports earlier Saturday that Smith Sr. had suffered four broken ribs and his status was "week to week," reports that the Ravens refuted.
The absence of Smith Sr. for even one game is a big loss for the Ravens.
The 36-year-old leads the team with 29 receptions and 373 yards, far ahead of their second-leading receiver Kamar Aiken, who has 11 receptions for 165 yards.
