Joseph Randle scores 3 TDs in 1st half vs. Falcons
The Dallas Cowboys' offense is humming along just fine without Tony Romo, thanks in large part to a monster first half from running back Joseph Randle on Sunday.
Randle hit pay dirt three times before the break, helping the Cowboys to a 28-17 lead over the Atlanta Falcons. He gained 92 yards on 10 rushing attempts, scoring from 37 yards and then twice from 1 yard.
He would finish with 87 yards on 14 attempts in the loss, with the offense stalling in the second half.
The Falcons had little answer early for the dominant offensive-line play of the Cowboys, who have kept things simple with Brandon Weeden at the helm. They ran the ball on more than half of their downs, tasking Weeden primarily with simple reads to help move the offense. Weeden completed his first nine passes and 22-of-26 overall.
Randle hauled in two of those passes, gaining 9 yards each time.
Fantasy owners may have been growing impatient for Randle's breakout. Through two games, Randle was averaging 3.4 yards per attempt, gaining 116 yards without finding the end zone.
Darren McFadden also had six attempts for 35 yards and a touchdown.
