Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas is expected to undergo surgery on a tendon in his finger that will force him to miss four-to-five weeks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Jags general manager David Caldwell, who spoke to the media Monday, says Thomas will get a second opinion Tuesday and proceed from there, likely missing four weeks from the date of the operation.
The former Bronco suffered a fractured finger in the Jags' first preseason game and has not played since. He was expected to be ready to suit up for Week 1 as recently as two days ago.
Thomas signed a five-year, $46-million contract with the cap-rich Jaguars in the offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Broncos. He caught 24 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
