Ngata (undisclosed) has been placed on the Lions' active non-football injury list in advance of Monday's start of training camp.
Analysis:
Ngata was traded to the Lions during the opening stages of free agency, as Detroit sought a ready-made replacement for departed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh this offseason. While the veteran Ngata won't be available for Day 1 of training camp Monday - reportedly due to a hamstring ailment - he's still eligible to return at any time and should help the Lions remain among the league's best run-stuffing teams this season.
