Andre Reed on Bills' receivers: 'They could be the best group in the league'

Andre Reed starred as arguably the greatest wide receiver in Buffalo Bills history and is sufficiently impressed by the team's current group.

Reed is working as a coaching intern with the Bills' receiving group and issued high praise for the burgeoning unit.

"They could be the best group in the league," Reed said Monday to Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News. "Right now the question is, who's going to be the quarterback? But talent-wise, they're real talented guys, all of them."

The Hall of Fame wide receiver was in Batavia, N.Y. to participate in the Jim Kelly Celebrity Golf Tournament. Kelly and Reed combined for 65 touchdowns over their respective careers, and Reed honored the Bills legendary quarterback in his induction speech last summer.

A proud ambassador for the Bills, Reed wants to serve as a mentor to the precocious group and said he'd eventually want to become a full-time coach.

"I just want to be that guy that they can talk to," Reed said. "They can talk to me about anything. They can ask me any question about anything. What I bring to the table is I've been there; they know that. And I think, whatever experience I can bring to them to make them better every day, that's what it's about.

“I'm going to let them talk to me about things. And, by observation, then I can say something. Those guys run stuff and do stuff their own way, and I'm just a liaison, help them out with some different things and what they want."

Drawing high praise from Reed should fuel the Bills' group with an air of confidence. Entering the season with a talented but unconventional roster, the Bills will be counting on Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, Robert Woods, and company to help snap the league's longest playoff drought.
