The Houston Texans have selected defensive tackle Christian Covington out of Rice in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Houston's defensive line is stacked, so Covington will likely be a reserve in 2015 and see time in sub packages.

Strengths
- Thick lower body and long arms.
- Good initial burst and can get upfield quickly.
- Gets his hands up to disrupt passing lanes.

- Consistently able to find the ball carrier. Led the Owls with 11.5 tackles for a loss in 2013.
Weaknesses
- Has difficulty maintaining balance and often gets knocked down on cut blocks.
- Average frame for the NFL level.
- Lack of experience and faced a subpar level of competition in college, making it difficult for scouts to evaluate him.
- Some durability concerns, as he missed seven games in 2014 with a dislocated knee that required season-ending surgery.
