Saints sign Kyle Wilson to 1-year deal, extend Jahri Evans
Further adding to their depth in the secondary, the New Orleans Saints signed free-agent cornerback Kyle Wilson to a one-year deal Wednesday.
A former first-round pick of the New York Jets, selected 29th overall in 2010, Wilson has struggled to make an impact over his five-year career.
Still just 27 years old, the Saints taking a one-year gamble on Wilson's once highly touted talents makes sense given their glaring needs on the defensive side.
The Saints also announced a one-year contract extension for veteran guard Jahri Evans' on Wednesday, likely lowering his salary-cap hit for 2015 and putting an end to rumors he could be yet another offseason trade candidate.
Evans has spent his entire nine-year career with the Saints, missing just two starts and making an impressive six trips to the Pro Bowl.
