The Chicago Bears have reached an agreement with Ed Donatell that will make him their new defensive backs coach.

Donatell served as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive backs coach from 2011-2014, following defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to Chicago.

Chicago's passing defense was abysmal in 2014, allowing 264 yards per game (the third-worst total in the NFL), and Donatell has accepted a difficult task in trying to revamp the secondary.
