2004 - Patriots defeat Colts in AFC Championship Game

Tom Brady throws for 237 yards and a touchdown to lead the New England Patriots to a 24-14 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game.

The Patriots dominate the first half, forcing three early turnovers and jumping ahead to a 15-0 lead. Colts running back Edgerrin James cuts the lead to 15-7 with a 2-yard touchdown run at the start of the third quarter, but New England responds with two field goals.

"I just made some bad throws, some bad decisions," says Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who finishes 23-of-47 for 237 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.

The Patriots go on to defeat the Carolina Panthers 32-29 to win Super Bowl XXXVIII.

2008 - Rams owner Georgia Frontiere passes away

St. Louis Rams owner Georgia Frontiere passes away at the age of 80 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Frontiere, who inherited the Rams from her husband Carroll Rosenbloom in 1979, was one of the few active female owners of a professional sports franchise. The Rams relocated twice under Frontiere's leadership, in 1980 from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to Anaheim and in 1995 from Los Angeles to her hometown of St. Louis.

"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team. She loved the Rams players, coaches and staff,"  a statement from Frontiere's son Chip Rosenbloom and daughter Lucia Rodriguez reads. "The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten."

2013 - Cardinals name Bruce Arians head coach

Bruce Arians is named the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Arians receives a four-year contract from the Cardinals with a club option for a fifth year. He replaces Ken Whisenhunt, who went 45-51 in six seasons with the team.

"I never thought it was going to come," Arians says. "I appreciate it so much. I will give it every single thing I have. The passion and energy I bring to this is something I love to do.

"The more I got to meet with everyone here, the more I got excited for the opportunity. "I knew it was the right fit for me."
