The San Diego Chargers have ruled out running back Ryan Mathews for this week's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Mathews hasn't played since early December after injuring his ankle.
Branden Oliver and Donald Brown should split the carries in his absence as the Chargers are fighting for their playoff lives.
