Report: Panthers hold tryout for Austin Pettis, 9 others
The Carolina Panthers held a tryout for 10 players Wednesday, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
Some of the more notable attendees were former St. Louis Rams wide receiver Austin Pettis, and defensive back M.D. Jennings who last played for the Chicago Bears.
The other eight candidates include wide receiver Uzoma Nwachukwu, running back Zach Bauman, running back Toben Opurum, quarterback Brad Sorensen, defensive back Kimario McFadden, defensive back Anthony Walters and defensive back Lou Young
Carolina has lost five consecutive games, so a roster shakeup isn't a bad idea.
Pettis caught 12 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown this season, prior to being released by the Rams. The 26-year-old was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Jennings is most famous for his role in 'Fail Mary' - a regular season game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, where the Seahawks won the game on a last-second Hail Mary in controversial fashion.
Russell Wilson lobbed a pass towards the end zone, with Jennings and then-Seahawks receiver Golden Tate coming down with simultaneous possession of the ball in the end zone. With the regular officials locked out, the replacement referees ruled that it was a touchdown, giving Seattle a 14-12 win on Monday Night Football.
