Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon may come up short in his efforts to keep the Rams in St. Louis.
According to Nick Canepa of U-T San Diego, Rams owner Stan Kroenke is believed to be negotiating a purchase of Hollywood Park, a defunct 300-acre racetrack in Inglewood, Calif.
Kroenke purchased a 60-acre plot of land between the racetrack and the Los Angeles Forum in January, leading to speculation that he was planning to build a stadium there.
Inglewood mayor James Butts furthered speculation when he revealed to supporters recently that he has a meeting lined up with Kroenke.
The Rams have set a deadline of Jan. 28, 2015 by which they will decide whether to convert to a year-to-year lease at the Edward Jones Dome. In the meantime, former Anheuser-Busch president Dave Peacock and local attorney Bob Blitz have been appointed by Nixon to oversee stadium solution options in St. Louis.
