The San Diego Chargers released veteran cornerback Richard Marshall on Monday, according to ProFootballTalk.

Marshall has certainly struggled in recent weeks, but the Chargers' depth at the position is starting to get thin.

With standout rookie Jason Verrett expected to miss some time, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Chargers turn to the free-agent market or even try to work out a trade prior to Tuesday's deadline.
