Rams release Austin Pettis

After he was inactive for the team's impressive upset win over the division rival Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the St. Louis Rams have released 2011 third-round selection Austin Pettis.
While the Rams are relatively crowded at the position, Pettis's release comes as a bit of a surprise given his six starts in 2013.
The team has yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but moving on from Pettis likely means a much-needed increase in opportunities for young receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey moving forward.
