Bengals' Alex Smith placed on season-ending IR

by Kyle Smith

The Cincinnati Bengals, already missing tight end Tyler Eifert, will now be without the services of Alex Smith.

Smith, who suffered a biceps injury during the team's Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons, was placed on season-ending Injured reserve on Tuesday.

Used mostly as a blocking tight end, Smith racked up 163 receptions for 1,473 yards and 13 touchdowns in 119 games split between the Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.

With only two tight ends on the active roster (Jermaine Gresham and Ryan Hewitt), the Bengals signed Kevin Brock.
