Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will not play Sunday against the New York Giants after he unsuccessfully tested his injured shoulder during pregame warmups, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Palmer was held out of practice all week as he continues to be bothered by a nerve issue in his right shoulder. He completed 24 of 37 passes for 304 yards with two scores in last week's 18-17 win over San Diego.

Cardinals backup quarterback Drew Stanton will start in Palmer's place.

The 30-year-old hasn't appeared in a game since playing in six contests with the Detroit Lions in 2010.
