Seahawks won't pick up 5th-year option on James Carpenter

The Seattle Seahawks declined to exercise the fifth-year club option on guard James Carpenter, the team announced Friday.

Carpenter, the 25th overall pick in the 2011 draft, came with a price tag of $7.438 million in 2015. He remains under contract for the 2014 season, and will then have an opportunity to test free agency should the Seahawks decide not to re-sign him.

The 25-year-old started 12 games for the Seahawks last season, including Super Bowl XLVIII.
