The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Joe Webb to a contract, the team announced Friday.

Webb has spent his entire four-year career with the Minnesota Vikings and has even been used as a receiver at some points as well.

The Panthers have said he will strictly be used as a quarterback in Carolina though, and he could play an important role in the offseason. Webb has a similar skill set to Cam Newton and he could mimic the team's offense while the franchise quarterback recovers from ankle surgery.
