Super Bowl will stay: Larry Fitzgerald - 'I didn't think there was any chance' of losing it
Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was never concerned about the possibility of Arizona losing the Super Bowl in 2014.
"I didn't think there was any chance it was going to go through," Fitzgerald said Saturday about the controversial anti-gay bill. "I had a strong feeling it would've been vetoed. It's good that it was, obviously. With the Super Bowl coming or any (event) like that, I think it just doesn't have any place in our society. I'm happy that it's behind us now."
Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed SB 1062, which would have allowed local businesses to deny service to gays and others based on religious beliefs.
The NFL has a strict policy against discrimination and was closely monitoring the situation.
The game could have been potentially stripped from Arizona via the NFL had the bill passed.
